Congo, Italy Sign Funding Agreement for Infrastructure Development

The Republic of Congo and Italy have signed a financial agreement to advance cooperation in health and infrastructure, marking the first disbursement of funds. The announcement was made by Italy’s Ambassador to Congo, Enrico Nunziata, who confirmed the partnership’s imminent implementation.

Congo is a priority country under Italy’s Mattei Plan – a development cooperation strategy launched in January 2024 – focused on initiatives in health, agriculture and water sanitation. As part of the collaboration, a pilot project will improve water distribution networks in Brazzaville and Pointe-Noire.

Additionally, Italy is contributing to maritime security efforts, with an Italian naval vessel set to support operations in the Gulf of Guinea under a European Union mandate.
