iCUBEFARM Speaks on Local Content, Skills Development at CEIF 2025
As a champion for skills development and workforce localization, pan-African professional development network and employment portal iCUBEFARM is leveraging technology to connect energy companies with qualified African talent. Energy Capital & Power spoke with the company’s CEO Yolanda Asumu about how the firm is contributing to local content development within the African energy industry during the Congo Energy & Investment Forum (CEIF) in Brazzaville in March 2025.

How is iCUBEFARM contributing to the growth of Africa’s energy industry?

We are a technology-driven company dedicated to building platforms that connect energy companies with qualified professionals across the sector. Our mission is to support the growth of the industry by fostering greater interconnection and access to talent. Over the past decade, we have witnessed significant progress in Africa’s energy landscape, particularly in terms of local employment and capacity building. In Equatorial Guinea, for example, our platform plays a role in identifying and nurturing local talent. We guide companies through a structured recruitment process, helping them define job descriptions, candidate criteria, and ultimately, matching them with the right professionals.

What impact does the energy transition have on the sector?

The energy transition is impacting not only the energy sector, but across industries such as technology, education and healthcare. This transformation is a key driver of economic growth and represents the future of the continent. That is why it’s essential to keep advancing the narrative around a just and inclusive energy transition. In the short term, we must take a strategic approach: identify the challenges we face and develop targeted, effective solutions. One critical solution lies in ensuring that energy companies have access to the right professionals, while also supporting skills development and upskilling across African markets.

What was your key message at CEIF?

One of the key takeaways was the critical importance of enhancing cross-border trade and fostering greater cooperation in infrastructure development and sharing. For markets to grow, we must prioritize the interconnectivity of infrastructure across the region.
