The Republic of Congo is advancing its electricity sector reforms by selecting a bidder to manage the distribution and commercialization of electricity nationwide.
Following a competitive bidding process spanning two years, a company has been identified as the preferred candidate for this delegation. While the company is yet to be disclosed, the Council of Ministers has authorized the continuation of negotiations with this bidder.
These discussions will focus on clearly defining the scope and terms of the concession agreement, with an emphasis on expediting the process to enhance the efficiency and reliability of electricity services across the country.
The development aligns with the Republic of Congo's broader strategy to reform its electricity sector, aiming to improve access to power for its citizens. In June 2024, the World Bank announced support for Congo's efforts to strengthen the electricity sector and improve access to power.
