SLB to Drive Congolese Market Expansion Through Digitalization

SLB to Drive Congolese Market Expansion Through Digitalization
With a strong presence in the Republic of Congo and wider Central African region, SLB is leveraging its global expertise and cutting-edge technologies to enhance exploration and production activities across diverse terrains. During the Congo Energy & Investment Forum (CEIF), Energy Capital & Power spoke with Yannick Mouamba, Country Director for Congo, Gabon and São Tomé and Príncipe at SLB, to discuss the company’s ongoing operations, strategic investments and its vision for supporting energy growth and sustainability in the region.

Congo has set a target to increase oil production to 500,000 barrels per day. How is SLB contributing to this goal?

We are involved in exploration with SNPC on land and deep offshore with TotalEnergies. On the production side, we are offering our services to Trident Energy, as well as Eni on the shallow water. Our bases in Pointe-Noire are equipped to support fracturing and stimulation operations –  services that are vital for boosting production rates and ensuring efficient extraction processes. We are committed to leveraging our technological capabilities, global expertise and cooperation with industry stakeholders to support the Republic of Congo in achieving its production objectives.

How is SLB positioning itself to meet growing demand for technology and services in the gas sector?

We have invested in renovating our bases in Pointe-Noire, ensuring that we have state-of-the-art facilities to support gas exploration and production activities. We have deployed fit-for-basin technologies. In collaboration with Eni on their Congo LNG project, SLB implemented automated drilling technologies that significantly increased efficiency. This deployment was vital in expediting the inauguration of the first LNG cargo. We have also utilized several advanced technologies, including TruLink, to accelerate project timelines, understand reservoir characteristics and optimize extraction strategies.

What was SLB’s core message at CEIF?

SLB's message was focused on two key pillars: technical excellence and integration, both of which are central to our performance strategy and vision for the future of Congo’s energy sector. CEIF provided an excellent platform to showcase our technology and success stories from around the globe. This event allows us to demonstrate how SLB’s innovations and expertise can drive growth, optimize production and create strategic collaboration opportunities, contributing to the overall sustainable development of Congo’s energy sector.
